History
In the time of William the Conqueror the Denne Hill estate is recorded
as being the property of Ralph de Den and an ancient yew tree listed
in Doomsday Book still stands in the park. However in more recent times
the Loder-Symonds family have been living at Denne Hill and for two
generations been directly involved in running the farm. Over the last
thirty five years the farming business has expanded considerably involving
new enterprises and additional land.

Background
This
is a mixed farm with a large arable enterprise growing milling
wheat, malting barley for
a local brewer, dried peas, beans and oilseed
rape. The main livestock enterprise is a beef herd. The cattle
graze the surrounding parkland and grass meadows.
We are committed to looking after and protecting the environment we
live in and have entered into the Countryside Stewardship Scheme. New
hedges have been planted, field margins created for wildlife and areas
taken out of arable production to be planted with a wildflower/grass
mix. Denne Hill supports an abundance of wildlife and the ancient park
has a variety of unusual mature trees interspersed with new planting.
We recognise the importance of making a profit from the land but at
the same time trying to benefit and nurture our unique countryside.
